                                FINE ARTS ON THE LAWN

   Art, Music and Activities at the Cooperstown Art Association

                                   over Labor Day Weekend

 

Don’t miss the Cooperstown Art Association’s Fine Arts on the Lawn exhibit, Saturday & Sunday of Labor Day Weekend September 3rd and 4th.  This outdoor sale of artwork is open 10am -5pm daily and will consist of artist-run tents on the lawn as well as work by over 40 members of the CAA on the front porch.  This sale of original artwork includes oils, photography, printmaking, watercolors, pen & ink, drawings, pastels and much more!  Bring your family and enjoy music by Mary Doherty from 11am-1pm on Saturday and Eric Marczak's classical guitar and Native American flute on Sunday from 1-3pm.  This event is free and open to the public!

 

Stop by and view work by some of your favorite area artists and support the CAA!  All works will be for sale, and the show will go on, rain or shine!  In addition to music, artist Sugwon Kang will be offering pencil portraits on site  Here are just a few of the artists participating this year: Robert Blanton, Sarah Brander, Celia Clark, Meghan Craig, Joan Dworkin, Fernande Dykstra, Tier French, Deborah Geurtze, Hope Morrow Glidden, Carol Ann Henderson, Jeanne Mellin Herrick, Virginia Hoyt, Bob Jamback, Doug Jamieson, Sybil Johnson, Sugwon Kang, Susan Kenyon, Abbey Koutnik, Betty Kratzenstein, Joseph Kurhajec, Bill Lee, Sandy Mattice, John Mazarak, Leah McDonald, Barbara Means, Kathy Minnig, Shirley Munoz, Ioan Munteanu, Tony Murray, Mary Nolan, Lee Robbins, Carol Saggese, Maryann Stow, Lynn Sweet, Janet Teschke, Maria Tripp, Elaine Wentworth, David White and many more!

CAA Names Art Scholarship Winners

 

            The Cooperstown Art Association is proud to announce that Alexis Lanza of Gilbertsville – Mt. Upton Central School and Izzy Owen of Worcester Central School are the two recipients of the 2011 Cooperstown Art Association Scholarship Award.  The Cooperstown Art Association award is given annually to one or two seniors who plan on pursuing art at the college level and who will graduate from any Otsego County or Clark Scholarship eligible school district.

 

Lanza and Owen were selected from a field of six students representing 5 different area high schools to receive this prestigious college scholarship in the amount of $300 each.  Alexis Lanza will continue her art education in the fall, attending the Parks School of Communication for film, photography and visual arts at Ithaca College.  Izzy Owen will be attending Syracuse University, majoring in photography.

 

Artwork by both Alexis and Izzy is on display in the hallway exhibit case of the CAA in conjunction with the 76th Annual National Juried Exhibition.  The National and Alexandra’s work will be on display through August 19 and are not to be missed!

 

The Cooperstown Art Association galleries are located in the Village Library Building, 22 Main Street, diagonally across the street from the Baseball Hall of Fame. Two Exhibits to Open at the CAA

“Made in New York” & Oil Paintings by Brian Zievert

 

The Cooperstown Art Association is excited to announce the opening reception of two new exhibits on Friday, August 26th from 5-7pm. Gallery A will be showcasing the 20th Annual Made in New York:  The Art of Wood” invitational fine craft show. “The Art of Wood” will feature an impressive collection of functional and non-functional creations all in wood by 28 talented local and regional craftspeople.  Expect to see guitars, cabinets, tables, benches, pens, jewelry, bowls and much more!

In Gallery B, Brian Zievert of Houston, TX will be exhibiting his original oil paintings.  His broad brushstrokes create blocks of color that capture light, movement and your imagination.  His landscapes appear to be alive and having spent time in Cherry Valley, NY you are sure to recognize some local haunts.

Both exhibits will run through September 23rd. The CAA Galleries are located at 22 Main St., Cooperstown. Special Gallery Hours for Labor Day Weekend are Daily 10-5pm.  Regular Gallery Hours: Open daily 11-4, Sunday 1-4. Closed Tuesdays after Labor Day.
